About this Item
In its 160 years of history, Pol Roger has carved out one of the strongest reputations in the select circle of the leading Champagne brands. Pol Roger was born on December 24, 1831, the son of a lawyer, he started his own champagne house in 1849, with the first growths released in 1853. Based around the town of Epernay, the house releases non-vintage cuvées every year, as well as three vintage wines, and the house’s prestige label – the Vintage Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill (as Churchill had a legendary thirst for Champagne, especially Pol Roger). For five generations, the descendants have been equally demanding, remaining loyal to the strategy initiated from the very beginning by the firm's founder. Today, the house is still owned and run by the family.
The Extra Cuvée de Réserve Brut is one of Pol Roger's flagship wines, representing the epitome of their winemaking expertise and dedication to quality. The 2002 vintage in Champagne was exceptional, characterized by optimal weather conditions throughout the growing season, which allowed for the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness and flavor development. As a result, wines from the 2002 vintage are often highly regarded for their richness, complexity, and aging potential.

Critics Ratings
'Dense, meaty and sumptuous. Great balance and even better from a magnum.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Dec 2018)
'The most recent vintage release from Pol Roger is this superb 2002. Notes of apple, almond, citrus and a hint of toast mingle together effortlessly. It can be consumed now, especially with food, but its mixture of maturity and freshness promise to age beautifully for many years to come.' - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 96/100 (Dec 2012)
