About this Item

2015 Côtes-du-Rhône
4 (1 x 4) 750ml

Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

The Côtes du Rhône is an assemblage of parcels located on the upper slopes of the commune of Ampuis.

Critics Ratings

‘Bright violet. Lively, mineral-laced dark berry aromas are complicated by hints of licorice and peppery spices. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering gently sweet blackberry and violet pastille flavors that become deeper and fleshier with air. Sappy and energetic in character, closing with strong thrust and silky, slow-building tannins.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 90/100 (Feb 2018)

'Deep purplish crimson. Very Syrah and very northern Rhône. On schist and with that sort of excitement. Very Jamet too – a great-value choice if you like his style but not his prices.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Oct 2016)

‘Scheduled to be bottled early next year, the 2015 Côtes du Rhône is a classic, more focused and elegant wine than the IGP Syrah offering lots of meatiness, leather and olive characteristics with good fruit, integrated acidity and outstanding length. It comes from vines bordering Côte Rôtie and will drink well for 4-5 years.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate (Dec 2016)
