Often described as the South African equivalent of a Grand Cru or First Growth, Kanonkop Estate is situated on the Simonsberg mountain slopes on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Owned by the fourth generation Krige family, Abri Beeslaar is their long-term winemaker who has won International Winemaker of the year an incredible 3 times.

Critics Ratings

‘Iconic blend led by cab, with cabernet franc, merlot - 65/20/15 in 06; classic style after more modern 05; impressively powerful: dense, richly layered fruit shows remarkable depth & complexity. 2 yrs new Fr oak effortlessly absorbed.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 5* (2010)

'Lovely, pure and ripe blackcurrants, cherry, mint. Fantastic structure and complexity, loads of typicity and lifted, open development.' - Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jun 2010)

'Rich but racy, with tangy minerality coursing through the core of loganberry, plum and fig fruit flavors. There's also roasted mesquite and iron, adding length to the finish, where a maduro tobacco note lingers. Should age nicely. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Drink now through 2013.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Jun 2010)
