Cape Heritage - Red Wines
About the SessionThe Cape Heritage Red Wine Session features 25 lots from The Tabernacle – the famous underground cellar in Stellenbosch that houses some of South Africa’s most spectacular vinous historical treasures. All the lots from The Tabernacle have been recorked; each bottle was opened for inspection, under the protection of an argon gas blanket, and Strauss & Co fine wine specialist Higgo Jacobs along with Amorim tasted and assessed each wine. The wines were topped up with wine from the same vintage, recorked and resealed, all under the supervision of a technical team from Amorim Corks.

Critics Ratings
'Brilliant deep red colour, touch of brown on the edge. Lovely aromas on the nose, red fruit, touch of spice, some sweetness with a vibrant youthfulness. Silky smooth on the palate with more of the red fruit and spice. Typical Cabernet Sauvignon flavours rounded by the maturity of the wine with a good touch of acidity that is still keeping the wine going. A very typical example of a mature Zonnebloem Cabernet Sauvignon. A lovely mature wine with more years to go.' - Bennie Howard CWM (Mar 2024)
'Herbal, minty, alive nose with lots of active fruit and vibrant spices. Surprising amounts of fresh herbs / crushed leaves on the palate, with dried blackcurrant and olives. Delicate and silky, but also perfumed and fresh. Best vintage from the 80’s.' - Higgo Jacobs (2024)
