The Loire
About the Session

An eclectic selection of interesting and super rare vintages from the Loire Valley. Rich in ancient limestone and silex soils, the Loire valley is known for their passionate, historic family producers, many of them farming organically, and forming the spiritual cradle of noble varieties including the likes of Sauvignon blanc in the famous appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume in the continental east, through the Chenins from Vouvray, and Cabernet Franc from Chinon and Saumur further downstream to the west. Brimming with variety and value, the catalogue includes highly collectable lots from acclaimed classics like Domaine  Huet,  Alphonse Mellot, Henri Bourgeois and Thierry Germain.

Critics Ratings

‘ A bright and sunny off-dry wine, with 20 grams per liter residual sugar. Orange zest, tangerine and mango with underlying notes of mint and sage. Swirling acidity on the palate, and a super long finish. Energetic.’ - Jason Wilson, Vinous, 93/100 (Jan 2020)

‘The sensation of a sun-drenched vintage is unmistakable, with notes of exotic fruits including mango, candied lemon, white flowers and Williams pear. On the palate, the 20g/L of residual sugar are well integrated and the balance is just perfect. A refreshing sensation of tension appears on the finish, providing energy and drive. A superb wine.’ – Yohan Castaing, Decanter.com, 94/100 (Nov 2022)
