Cape Heritage - Red Wines
About the SessionThe Cape Heritage Red Wine Session features 25 lots from The Tabernacle – the famous underground cellar in Stellenbosch that houses some of South Africa’s most spectacular vinous historical treasures. All the lots from The Tabernacle have been recorked; each bottle was opened for inspection, under the protection of an argon gas blanket, and Strauss & Co fine wine specialist Higgo Jacobs along with Amorim tasted and assessed each wine. The wines were topped up with wine from the same vintage, recorked and resealed, all under the supervision of a technical team from Amorim Corks.

Critics Ratings
'Deep red colour and only a touch of brown. Soft but ich flavours on the nose, with red fruit, spice and hint of sweetness. The wine is so elegant and complex – the perfect marriage of this famous blend since 1932. The palate surprises one with the freshness and youthfulness of this wine. So well balanced and lovely integration of fruit, tannin and acidity after all the years and still going strong. What an aftertaste!!' - Bennie Howard CWM (Mar 2024)
'Perfumed nose of red fruit, spice and forest floor. Lovely chalky dryness here. Incredible structure. Bright and elegant. Long lived. Another great vintage from the decade of the 60’s.' - Higgo Jacobs (2024)
