About this Item

2004 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées
2 (1 x 2) 750ml

Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier was founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier’s great-great-grandfather. In 1985, Frederic – a fifth generation Mugnier – took over, and somehow managed to combine the running of the property with his job as an airline pilot. He now focuses his efforts solely on winemaking. The estate is renowned for its Chambolle-Musigny and is the second largest owner in Musigny.

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées is one of the esteemed Premier Cru vineyards in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of Burgundy. Situated in the Côte de Nuits region, Les Fuées is known for producing wines of elegance, finesse, and complexity. The vineyard's limestone-rich soils and optimal sun exposure contribute to the wines' distinctive character.

Critics Ratings

‘There is a hint of herbal tea (but no green meanies) on the pure, elegant and now mostly mature red berry fruit, spice and discreet floral-scented nose. The lilting, precise and energetic middle weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality before concluding in an utterly delicious, balanced and solidly persistent finish. For my taste this elegant and refined effort has arrived on the front edge of its peak drinkability. This is a very fine 2004 and a clear success for the vintage.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91/100 (Jul 2015)

‘Medium red. Perfumed aromas of red raspberry, minerals and rose petal. Juicy, tangy and spicy but a bit tart, with elevated acidity and a light herbal component. This has vibrancy, purity and grip but finishes a tad dry, with dusty tannins.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Mar 2007)
