About this Item
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair was established in 2000. While it is a relatively new domaine in Burgundy, the Liger-Belair family has owned vineyards in Vosne-Romanée since 1815. They produce a range of Grand and Premier Cru wines from vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée, with the tiny monopole of La Romanée providing their flagship wine. The Comte Liger-Belair wines are highly sought-after, despite the domaine's youth and the La Romanée monopole is regularly among the most expensive wines produced in Burgundy. Comte Liger-Belair's mostly Pinot Noir-based wines are farmed using biodynamic principles and the vineyards are still plowed by horse.
The 2009 Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots is an exceptional wine from one of Burgundy's most prestigious producers. Comte Liger-Belair is known for producing wines of great finesse and complexity, and the Aux Reignots vineyard, located just above the famed La Romanée vineyard, is known for its unique terroir, producing wines with both power and elegance.

Critics Ratings
‘Youthful and plump, with mulberry and black cherry aromas accented with earth, liquorice and floral notes. The texture shows the vintage's ripe, supple character, yet a tannic grip and lively acidity reflect the terroir’s location in thin soils on the slope above La Romanée. This wine is drinking well now, but can easily last another 20 years or more in a proper cellar.’ – Charles Curtis, Decanter.com, 96/100 (Aug 2023)
‘The 2009 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots has a divine bouquet, beautifully defined with precise red cherries, blood orange, wild strawberry and striking mineral scents that elevate this Aux Reignots above previous vintages. The palate is very precise and poised, very animated and tense, the oak seamlessly integrated. This is a class act, the one that really gets hold of this premier cru and exploits it to the full. This is wonderful.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 96/100 (Jul 2015)
‘The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Reignots explodes onto the palate with dazzling richness and power. Black fruit tar, licorice and smoke are just some of the many aromas and flavors that stain the palate as this dark, brooding Burgundy shows off its pedigree. Layers of fruit build effortlessly to the huge, intense finish. Underlying veins of salinity give the wine its sense of proportion. In 2009 the Reignots is superb.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 96/100 (Apr 2012)
‘This is not quite as floral as the Brûlées though it is perhaps even a bit fresher with a highly spiced nose that is very Vosne in character. The supple, round and beautifully well-delineated middle weight flavors seem to exude both a liquid minerality and plenty of dry extract that buffers the firm but sophisticated tannins on the tension-infused, focused and highly complex finish. This should be terrific and I really like the impeccable balance of this long and powerful yet strikingly refined effort.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 94/100 (Jan 2012)
‘Very intense and grown up. Lip-smackingly satisfying, with real depth and savour. Extremely firm. But there is masses there and no excess of sweetness. Serious long-term wine.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Jan 2011)
