About this Item
The winemaker is bubbly obsessive and uses different closures and bottle sizes so that he can understand the minute variations in the drinking experience that each facilitate. Agrafe involves a second fermentation under cork (instead of the usual crown cap) before disgorgement and further ageing under a new cork is to achieve greater richness in the end wine.

Critics Ratings
'Citrus, yellow apple, a particular yeasty quality plus ginger and spice. Rich and full with a soft mousse and a savoury finish.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 90/100 (Nov 2017)
'The Brut Agrafè is a blend of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir with 2.8 g/l dosage and only 376 bottles produced. It undergoes traditional cork fermentation and maturation for 36 months. Premium corks are specially imported for this wine. It shows an impressive salty, briney melange of yellow pithy fruits, creamy depth and enticing tertiary complexity. A very impressive wine.' - Greg Sherwood MW, 93/100 (May 2018)
'This is aged on lees under cork and is sealed with a metal clip. Lovely delicacy. Fine, subtle toasty lemons and pears with nice structure and acidity. Precise with tight citrus fruit and lovely focus.' - Jamie Goode, Wineanorak.com, 94/100
'This is the first vintage from Le Lude, but it immediately takes its place among the Cape's best sparkling wines. Sourced from six sites in three regions (Robertson, Bonnievale and Franschhoek), it's a stunning, bone-dry style. Wild mushroom, toast and patisserie flavours, very fine bubbles and palate-thrilling acidity. Stunning. 2018-22' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 95/100
