About this Item

2012 Vintage Cuvée
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Le Lude, a wine farm in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, follows an ethos committed to its founding family and the crafting of naturally bottle-fermented sparkling wines, known as Cap Classique. Today Le Lude builds on this important vinous tradition by specialising in Cap Classique, ensuring that grapes expressing site and terroir are coaxed into a premium product of unrivalled excellence. Innovation in the cellar and the restless, un-comprising pursuit of perfection in the bottle have made Le Lude one of the world’s most exciting new producers of Cap Classique, a wine becoming internationally renowned for finesse, elegance and refinement.

This Franschhoek property dedicated to producing MCC sparkling wines have achieved stellar success in a short amount of time with a specialised focus on quality. This 2012 vintage cuvée made history in becoming the first South African sparkling wine to achieve a platinum award at the renowned and highly contested Decanter World Wine Awards.

The grapes used to make this cuvée were sourced from different parcels across the Western Cape in order to create the canvas of flavours needed to produce the basewine.

In May 2019 the 2012 Vintage Cuvée from Le Lude received a platinum award (97 points) at the 16th Decanter World Wine Awards in London - making it the first South African Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) to receive such a high accolade. Only 2000 of these magnums were produced so this is certainly a wine lovers delight.

Critics Ratings

'The best tanks and barrels from each year’s crop are used to make this magnum bottling, produced from Chardonnay and 17% Pinot Noir. It’s an incredibly complex bubbly that will improve further in bottle. Rich, profound, yet light on its feet, with notes of umami and toast and the finest of bubbles. My fizz of the year. 2018-28' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 96/100

'Citrus, white peach and a little wild strawberry plus brioche. Rich and full with tangy acidity and a creamy mousse. Very pleasing – in a great place in terms of its development.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100 (Nov 2017)
