Hjördis Oldfors (1920-2014) was a well-known Swedish ceramist of the 20th century. She was one of the leading designers for the Upsala-Ekeby factory in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of Oldfors' series expressed her intention for strong graphic patterns and natural motifs, often in combination with soft ceramic shapes. One of the most well-known series is Poäng (Point), which features a set of vases and a bowl characterized by their unique painted and glazed stoneware designs. They have a black glaze and polychrome dot pattern, typical of Oldfors' modernist approach to ceramics. The use of stoneware provides durability and a distinctive texture, while the glazing enhances the visual impact and functionality of each piece.
