About this Item
Notes
In 1906, Daum began the manufacture of pâte-de-verre, a glass-making technique of the ancient world rediscovered by pioneer French glassmakers in the 1870s. Pâte-de-verre (literally, "glass paste") consists of coloured glass which has been ground into a fine powder and mixed with a fusing agent to form a paste. The intricacies of the moulds, combined with the refined nature of the paste, allowed for pâte-de-verre Daum pieces to be richly detailed and carefully coloured though subtle tonal variations that serve as a natural progression
Dan Dailey is an American visual artist and has simultaneously produced sculpture and functional art with an emphasis on lighting since 1970. Dailey's drawings and the objects they inspire depict human character and the world we inhabit.
