About this Item
6 x 750ml bottles of Jordan Sophia 2013 from the 2016 Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction
Named ‘Sophia’ after the legendary mother of Faith, Hope and Charity, this wine is a blend of the best barrels from the 2013 vintage at Jordan Wine Estate. Representing the characteristics of the three Bordeaux varieties that make up this exceptional wine, the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes were harvested from west-facing hillside vineyards at Jordan, overlooking Table Mountain and False Bay.
Traditional winemaking included three pump-overs daily over the fermenting cap, extended skin contact after fermentation, gentle pressing and then barrel aging for 24 months in 225 litre French oak barrels to integrate the rich tannins.
56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc.
