Kristen McClarty (b. 1973, Empangeni) is a South African specialist printmaker based in Kommetjie, Cape Town. She has exhibited extensively in South Africa at notable galleries such as David Krut Projects, Ebony Curated, and Kalk Bay Modern, as well as internationally at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in the UK (2022, 2023, 2024). Represented by Circle Contemporary in Cornwall, she will also exhibit at the London Art Fair in 2024.

McClarty's artistic practice focuses on woodcut printing, where she explores the natural surface and its translation onto various media. Her work often challenges traditional processes and materials, resulting in unique prints that showcase the experimental nature of her craft. The woodcuts featured in her Sense of Place series were printed on a rare 12gsm Abaca surface, typically used for restoring historical manuscripts, and are included in both public collections, such as The Art Bank of South Africa Acquisitions (2022), and private collections globally.
