Talitha Deetlefs is a self-taught sculptor, born in Heidelberg in 1980. She expected to become a painter, but during her time working in the film industry as a faux fabricator she realised that her interest lies in three-dimensional work. She has focused predominantly on the female form and she has created a collection of striking figures embodying the multi-faceted feminine identity. She explores the ways in which our identities as women are formed by personal and collective history and how we can transcend social conditioning to reveal our own beauty. She currently lives and works in Somerset West.
