After obtaining her B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Pretoria in 1963, she pursued a successful academic career, lecturing in Printmaking at North-West University. In 1991, she shifted focus to her creative work, producing art deeply inspired by South Africa's cultural heritage and later exploring universal themes like the Four Elements and the passage of time. In 2008, she was awarded the Medal of Honour for Visual Arts by the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns.
