Anastasia Pather, born in 1987, is a Johannesburg-based artist recognised for her distinctive painting style and international acclaim. In 2020, she completed a residency at the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden in Marrakesh and previously participated in the OpenLab Residency in the Northern Cape. Pather has held four solo exhibitions at 99 Loop Gallery in Cape Town and was named a finalist for the Young Female Residency Award by the Project Space. In 2022, she founded AP.AD, an art consultancy focused on developing South African artists, with clients including J.P. Morgan South Africa. Her recent work was featured at the Museum of African American Art in Dallas in 2023, and she is currently collaborating on a multi-city commission with the University of Witwatersrand. She is set to complete an art residency in Cairo at the end of 2024.
