Born in South Africa in 1976, Heike grew up in the Eastern Cape and now lives in Cape Town with her husband, a sculptor, and their two teenage children. A full-time painter since graduating from Michaelis at UCT, she has exhibited consistently for over three decades, with solo shows at notable galleries such as Everard Read, IS Art, and Lizamore and Associates, as well as group exhibitions in South Africa and Europe. Her work primarily explores female identity through portraiture and social contexts, employing a mix of ink, acrylics, cyanotypes, and gold leaf. Recently, she has shifted focus to themes of nostalgia and childhood memories, creating whimsical and playful imagery.
