Mimmo Paladino was born in 1948 in Paduli, near Benevento, Italy. He studied at the Liceo Artistico di Benevento from 1964 to 1968 and is a celebrated contemporary artist known for his contributions to painting, sculpture, and installation art. Paladino developed a distinctive style marked by vibrant colours, expressive forms, and allegorical themes. He became a key figure in the Italian Transavanguardia movement, with works exploring ideas of myth, memory, and the human experience.
Paladino has exhibited widely, including at the 1980 Venice Biennale. He has had significant solo exhibitions at institutions like the Guggenheim Museum in Venice and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. His artwork is held in prestigious collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
