Notes

Poh Ling Yeow is an Australian artist whose works explore themes of belonging and identity. Born in 1973 in Kuala Lumpur to a Chinese-Malaysian family and raised in Adelaide, her multicultural background profoundly influences her art. Yeow holds a Bachelor of Visual Communications in Illustration from the University of South Australia, where she honed her creative skills and developed a passion for storytelling through visual mediums.

Primarily working with acrylic paint, Yeow creates figurative pieces featuring her autobiographical character, "The Girl," who symbolises her journey of self-acceptance and connection to her heritage. Her unique brush technique gives her paintings an airbrushed quality. With a career spanning over two decades, Yeow has exhibited widely in Australia. Additionally, she was a runner-up on the inaugural season of MasterChef Australia in 2009, gaining national recognition and facilitating a career as an Australian TV personality.
