About this Item
Penfolds Bin 128 is one of the most distinctive reds in the Penfolds stable. As a 'Coonawarra Shiraz', it is one of the few Penfolds reds that isn't a multi-regional blend. It is also one of only two Penfolds reds to be matured solely in French oak. French oak generally lends a wine understated, aromatic characters and is therefore a better choice with more subtly flavoured wines. Coonawarra typically produces zesty, spicy and supple Shiraz fruit that exhibits a richness of flavour and a mouthfilling roundness on the palate. Bin 128 is true to this style.

Critics Ratings
‘Pitch black. Lush, high-toned aromas of currant, blackberry and oaky-smoke; fine and pure. Quite tannic and austere now, actually palate-numbing, but a hint of fully ripened dark stone fruit suggests aging potential. From a cooler region.’ – Wine Enthusiast (Oct 1999)
‘Crisp, almost bright even though it's almost 4 years old, focusing its plum, spice and tobacco flavors on an elegant frame that feels more like Cabernet but tastes like Shiraz. Drink now through 2010.’ – Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator (Dec 1999)
