Bouchard Finlayson CWG Auction Reserve Pinot Noir 2012:
‘The 2012 CWG Auction Reserve Pinot Noir saw 100% new French oak and that is evident on the dark plum and strawberry nose that is quite reserved. The palate is oaky on the entry with the wood component tending to overpower the finish.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Oct 2014)
‘Purple-edged quite deep cerise. Cherry notes, earthy whiffs, chewy and ungiving at present, no concessions to simple fruit, oak still dominating but integrating.’ – Michael Fridjhon, Winewizard.co.za, 91/100 (Sep 2014)
‘Here is a lively, fresh and vibrant selection, with mouthwatering acidity and juicy fruit flavors of brambly berry and cherry. Notes of licorice, anise and Dr. Pepper add depth to the bright fruit core. The tannins are soft and the structure approachable; drink now–2017.’ – Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100 (Sep 2014)
Crystallum Cuvée Cinéma Pinot Noir 2013:
‘Marvellous lithe perfumed grace on 13 (5*) from Hemel-en-Aarde ridge, the finest of the range, as was 12. Fresh, brave acidity enlivens sweet dark fruit to the lingering drive finish. Pure fruit & silky texture give early charm; structure should retain, deepen it. These all natural ferment.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2015, 5*
‘The 2013 Cuvée Cinema Pinot Noir is 30% whole-bunch pressed and raised in 30% new oak for 11 months. It has a crisp black cherry, cassis and violet-scented bouquet that is beautifully controlled - sleek and assured. The palate is medium-bodied with superb minerality that comes through, the oak neatly knitted into the crisp, dark cherry finish. This is an exemplary Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir and I feel that at the moment it is a little punchier and denser than Peter-Allan's other cuvées.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Oct 2014)
