Mulderbosch Faithful Hound 1998:
‘Traditional style, with mature notes of currant, cedar and smoke. Slightly firm finish. Drink now through 2002.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Sep 2001)
‘Produced from 50% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12% Malbec, the 1998 Faithful Hound exhibits dark fruits, spices, herbs, and cedar notes in its aromatic profile. Light to medium-bodied and filled with blackberries, cassis liqueur, mint, and black raspberries, this is a warm (from alcohol), softly textured wine. Anticipated maturity: now-2007.’ – Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate (Apr 2001)
Rust en Vrede Estate 1996:
‘The 1996 Rust En Vrede proprietary red is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Shiraz, and 10% Merlot. It reveals gorgeous floral, blackberry, and sweet cherry aromas. This is a pristine, fresh, intricate wine, with a powerful raspberry attack that is followed by a beautifully etched, sweet blueberry and cherry character. It is elegant, defined, highly detailed, and immensely flavorful. Drink this outstanding wine over the course of the next 8 years.’ – Pierre Rovani, Wine Enthusiast, 90/100 (Apr 2001)
‘This red makes a statement. Fresh, bold and extravagantly oaked, exuding vanilla, coffee and toast elements, backed by a core of rich, concentrated plum and black currant. Lovely acidity keeps it all lively, and the long finish bodes well for the future. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. Best from 2001 through 2008.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Apr 2000)
