About this Item
Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

Critics Ratings
‘Mineral nose, savoury stone fruit, finely acid giving welcome refreshment. Sherbet notes. Excellent poise.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16+/20 (Oct 2019)
‘Jamet's 2018 Cotes du Rhone is 100% Syrah from Ampuis. It boasts the seductive floral and fruity aromas of the IGP Syrah—violets, blueberries and raspberries—but with a bit more weight and texture. It shows remarkable purity in a medium to full-bodied, velvety wine, with flavors that linger elegantly on the finish. It really is a baby Côte Rôtie, yet it's capable of putting some Côte Rôties to shame.’ – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 91-93/100 (Dec 2019)
‘Deep, bright-rimmed ruby. Fresh dark berry and floral pastille aromas are complemented by hints of black pepper and licorice. Juicy and supple in style, offering energetic blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors that firm up on the back half. The long, smooth, subtly sweet finish features harmonious tannins and a touch of smokiness.’ – Josh Reynolds, Vinous, 91/100 (Apr 2020)
‘Juicy, soft and approachable vintage, much deeper and more interesting than their IGP Syrah. Depth and ripeness, plenty of immediate enjoyment. 100% Syrah, grown high on the top slopes of Côte-Rôtie and its borders, matured only in 10+-year-old barrels.’ – Matt Walls, Decanter.com, 90/100 (Oct 2019)
