About this Item
Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

Critics Ratings
‘Wonderful floral aroma with pure blueberry fruit and excellent clarity. Light tannins, pepper and herbs. Has the elegance and perfume of their Côte Rôtie, but at a softer volume. Lovely appetising acidity on the finish.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Nov 2018)
‘Slightly bigger, richer and riper than the IGP Syrah, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone is medium to full-bodied, creamy and supple, with similar notes of crushed stone, a fumé-like character. But it also has blackberries, black olives and hints of espresso. It finishes silky and long. Jean-Paul Jamet points out that it comes from schist soils identical to Côte Rôtie but from younger vines. Like the IGP, it's destemmed and aged in old barrels.’ – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Oct 2018)
‘Brilliant violet. Smoke- and spice-accented dark berries and hints of licorice and olive on the lively nose. Subtly sweet blackberry and cherry flavors show very good energy and pick up a suave floral quality with aeration. Displays sharp delineation and strong, spicy lift on the persistent, gently tannic finish, which features lingering cherry pit and floral qualities.’ – Josh Reynolds, Vinous, 91/10 (Mar 2019)
