About this Item
The Chave family, now 16 generations strong, has been producing wine since 1481. Managed by Jean-Louis, Chave produces the greatest Hermitage wines in the world. They are regarded as royalty in terms of French winemaking and follow a very traditional winemaking approach. Renowned for their blending skill, Chave has never released a single vineyard wine.
Jean-Louis Chave Sélection, his négociant line which sources grapes from various areas in the northern Rhône, represents a more accessible way for the consumer to experience the wines of the Chave family.

Critics Ratings
‘Ripe and fleshy in feel, with an open-knit personality to the mix of steeped blackberry and black cherry compote flavors, backed by warmed anise, smoldering black tea and loam notes. Offers well-integrated grip through the finish, making this approachable while giving it staying power. Drink now through 2032.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Nov 2019)
‘Interesting to see this cuvée with a bit of age, and its drinking well now, taking on some subtle forest floor notes to the blackberry fruit. Medium-bodied and enjoyably savoury. Well balanced, though really quite ripe and concentrated with a long finish. Drink now, but there's no rush. From bought grapes from three parcels in Hermitage: Les Diognières, Les Greffieux and Péléat. 80% destemmed and matured in barrel for 24 months, 20% new.’ – Matt Wallis, Decanter.com, 92/100 (Sep 2022)
