About this Item

2017 Selection Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur
1 (1 x 1) 1500ml

The Chave family, now 16 generations strong, has been producing wine since 1481. Managed by Jean-Louis, Chave produces the greatest Hermitage wines in the world. They are regarded as royalty in terms of French winemaking and follow a very traditional winemaking approach. Renowned for their blending skill, Chave has never released a single vineyard wine.

J.L. Chave Selection is the exclusive negociant label of Jean-Louis Chave, the doyen of Hermitage wine, and offers the perfect solution for those who adore the great wines from this appellation but not the price tag of Chave's main label. The Chave's methods for all winemaking are traditional farming, super low yields, full ripeness, and minimal manipulation. Their unmatched meticulousness continues through five centuries to render venerable expressions of the purest of Northern Rhone Terroir.

Critics Ratings

‘A gem of a Côtes Du Rhône, the 2017 Mon Coeur from the Chave family sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as a ripe, perfumed bouquet of black raspberries, garrigue, melted licorice, and ground pepper. This medium to full-bodied, exuberant, undeniably sumptuous 2017 is ideal for drinking over the coming 5-7 years.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, 92/100 (Dec 2009)

‘Deep ruby. Pungent red and blue fruit and floral scents are complemented by suggestions of succulent herbs and white pepper. Lively, penetrating and appealingly sweet, showing good depth as well as detail to the black raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors. Finishes long and smoky, with supple tannins coming in late.’ – Josh Reynolds, Vinous, 90/100 (Sep 2019)

‘Bold dark cherry compote flavors are liberally laced with violet, savory and singed anise notes. Features a nice flash of warm earth through the finish. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2021.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Nov 2019)
