About this Item
Rene Rostaing produced his first wine in 1971, but it took almost 3 decades before wine became a full time occupation. Through inheritance from Albert Dervieux Thaize, his father-in-law who retired in 1990, and from Marius Gentaz Dervieux, his uncle, Rene Rostaing was able to expand his Northern Rhone holdings, giving him some of the best terroir in Côte Rôtie. Rene Rostaing remains a traditional Côte Rôtie producer and there are few better on this historic slope.
Domaine Réné Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde 2009 is a full-bodied red wine produced from the Syrah grape variety in the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. Planted with vines aged more than 80 years old, Côte Blonde is the most prized Syrah vineyard parcel of the Rostaing domaine.

Critics Ratings
‘Scented and concentrated. Very fresh and pointed. For the moment very youthful indeed. A little inky on the end. For Rostaing this is quite dramatic! It will need quite a while.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Nov 2010)
‘Similarly concentrated to the 2010, yet not quite as refined or elegant, the 2009 Côte Rôtie Côte Blonde offers knockout richness and depth to go with notes of graphite, sweet black raspberry, earth, and spice. Possessing exuberant and overflowing levels of fruit, with chewy, rustic, yet ripe tannin, this is a blockbuster to drink over the coming 15-20 years.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Feb 2015)
‘Very perfumy at first, with violet and singed bay leaf notes leading the way for very silky plum and cherry confiture flavors. The long, dark finish lets an iron hint flitter through as this expands steadily, revealing lots of charcoal-tinged grip that blossoms and blossoms, turning this into an intense, dark, brooding wine. Best from 2015 through 2027.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 95/100 (Jul 2012)
‘Deep, vivid ruby. Explosively perfumed aromas of red and dark berry preserves, potpourri, licorice and incense, with intense minerality adding lift and an incisive quality. Black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors shows a striking marriage of depth and vivacity and are complemented by suave floral pastille and fruitcake notes. Refuses to let go on the finish, which lingers with serious fruity, floral persistence.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 95/100 (Mar 2012)
