About this Item
Domaine Saint Préfert is a wine estate based in the well-known Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of the southern Rhône Valley. The estate was founded by Fernand Serre around a century ago and was one of the first domaines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to sell its wine in bottles in the 1930s. Saint Préfert has been owned since 2003 by Isabel Ferrando and is best known for its quality production of traditional Châteauneuf red and white blends.
The estate is located on an 80-hectare plot of land in the southwestern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyard is planted to some 13 hectares of vines that are around 60+ years old, producing low, concentrated yields.

Critics Ratings
‘Bright crimson. Light and vital on the nose. Taken to the limit of ripeness and with marked tannin, this should ride out the long term. Still-dry but appetizing tannins on the end.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Oct 2016)
‘The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is a great effort that should be reasonably available. Produced from vines under 30 years old, it's a blend of 85% Grenache, 5% Cinsault, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah. There's a tinge of chocolate to the raspberry and licorice flavors but also hints of orange zest, cinnamon and clove. It's full-bodied and lush, with a long finish. There's no need to defer gratification, but it should drink well for at least a decade.’ – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Oct 2017)
‘Vivid ruby. Lively, sharply focused red berry, floral pastille and Asian spice scents, along with suggestions of garrigue and smoky minerals. Sweet, focused and seamless in texture, offering intense raspberry, spicecake and lavender flavors that deepen slowly on the back half. Clings with real authority on the subtly tannic finish, leaving a suave floral note behind. This is an outstanding example of a "basic" Châteauneuf.’ – Josh Reynolds, Vinous, 91-93/100 (Dec 2016)
