Critics Ratings
'Saronsberg’s reds tend to be made in a bigger, plusher style than many Cape Syrahs. The palate is certainly ripe here, but the wine has plenty of varietal character with notes of crushed rock, blackberry and iodine, subtle oak, and a fresh, stony finish. Drink: 2015-20.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 94/100
'As usual 2013 manages to include a graceful note in its balanced, handsome robustness. Sweet ripe fruit firmly cushioned on supportive tannic structure & oaking (90%) that is not intrusive. This internationally & locally much awarded wine has a track record of ageability.' - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2016, 4.5*
'The 2013 Shiraz has a slightly broody nose compared to the 2012, a little earthier and less fruit-driven perhaps, though still nicely defined. The palate is better - quite succulent in the mouth with plenty of sweet black cherries and blueberry mixed with a dash of soy, although the finish would benefit from more finesse. This is a very decent Shiraz, though I probably prefer last year's release.' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Nov 2015)
