About this Item
After global travels and living in Japan for more than two decades, Hans-Peter Schröder relocated to Stellenbosch and bought the beautiful Oude Nektar farm in the Jonkershoek Valley in the late 1980s. He was later joined by son-in-law José Conde, a native of Kansas City, who took up the reins in the cellar with both passion and precision, unlocking the potential of the Jonkershoek terroir.
Winemakers Note: This wine is primarily built around a very stony vineyard that just seems to produce better and better quality as the vines age. Typically of our vineyards, it makes an elegant, floral wine rather than a big in-your-face style.

‘Intricate winemaking on 2016: basket pressed with portion co-fermented viognier & roussanne added. Gently sexy, violet & lavender over plush black fruit & crack of pepper too. Complex, detailed & svelte, seamlessly wooded (20% new).' - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (94/100)
'This mid-tier Syrah comes from three blocks at different elevations in the Jonkershoek Valley between 210 and 360 metres. It’s an intensely perfumed wine that benefits from the addition of 5% Roussanne and has lovely violet and blackberry fruit. 2019-26' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 93/100
