About this Item
The Foundry Wine Collection was established on a shoestring budget in 2001 by Chris Williams and his great friend James Reid. The brand has gained numerous accolades and awards since 2001. The wines are site specific, terroir defined wines, with the aim of producing wines that both Chris and James enjoy drinking.
The grapes come from a small belt of grapes planted on the granitic soils of the Voor Paardeberg. The nutrient poor soils and location causes a natural concentration of flavours without having to leave the grapes hanging for extra ripeness. This preserves the delicate nature of these grapes.

Critics Ratings
'Crystal-clear pale greenish straw. Clean, crisp, floral nose. Much livelier than many a Grenache Blanc. Just a hint of chew at the end to give it structure. Very appetising, Clearly work has been put in to combat this grape’s occasional heaviness though the granite soils of the Voor Paardeberg may well have done all the work.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Jan 2015)
‘The 2014 Grenache Blanc comes from vines in the Voor-Paardeberg planted in 2007; it is barrel-fermented in older Allier oak for seven months. It has a very attractive nose that expresses the grape variety with style, despite the youth of the vines; touches of almond and white chocolate infuse the citrus fruit all with fine delineation. The palate is well balanced, underpinned by a keen thread of acidity that offsets a slightly waxy texture. There are notes of citrus fruit, pralines and guava, with a hint of lychee developing towards the finish. Don't be afraid to enjoy this now, but I suspect it will age in bottle for the next 8-10 years.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Nov 2015)
