About this Item
The Foundry Wine Collection was established on a shoestring budget in 2001 by Chris Williams and his great friend James Reid. The brand has gained numerous accolades and awards since 2001. The wines are site specific, terroir defined wines, with the aim of producing wines that both Chris and James enjoy drinking.
According to Chis Williams, 2013 was a dream vintage compared to 2014, 2013 was a moderately cool vintage, so great fruit expression and nice natural acidity are the hallmarks of the class of 2013. The grapes come from a small belt of grapes planted on the granitic soils of the Voor Paardeberg.
The nutrient poor soils and location causes a natural concentration of flavours without having to leave the grapes hanging for extra ripeness. This preserves the delicate nature of these grapes.

‘White-pepper nose and really fresh and lively. Tense and probably the Grenache Blanc with the most tension I have ever tasted. Still chewy but admirable.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Sep 2015)
‘One of a handful of excellent Grenache Blancs in the Cape, this is often very restrained in its youth. Herbal and tangy, with lip-smacking acidity, apple, aniseed and cut pear flavours and a long, minerally finish. Give this time to open in the glass. Drink: 2014-18’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2014, 93/100
