About this Item

2015 Crozes-Hermitage Collection
4 (1 x 4) 750ml

Domaine Alain Graillot is a top wine producer located in Crozes-Hermitage in the northern Rhône, becoming a benchmark for the appellation and a Syrah icon! Alain founded the Domaine in 1985, releasing his first vintage from a rented vineyard. The Domaine quickly rose to prominence and only three years after its establishment, Graillot purchased the vineyards he had been renting. The Domaine was handed over to son Maxine, but the wines continue in the same style and quality. Classically styled and able to age well for many decades, Alain sadly passed in 2022.

The lot consists of the following wines:
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage 2015 (1 x 750ml)
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage La Guiraude 2015 (3 x 750ml)

Critics Ratings

Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage 2015:
'Dark and inky with black core. Gorgeous aroma that is smoky and full of savoury dark fruit, almost charry like roasted potato skins. There is a hint of stems but very slight because the fruit is so dark and intense. Dark and creamy textured on the palate. Pure ripe peppery Syrah. Thick, deep-pile rounded tannins.' - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jun 2017)

'Brilliant violet. Perfumed dark berry, violet and olive aromas are complemented by licorice and smoky mineral flourishes. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering pliant black raspberry and cherry flavors and a suave violet nuance. Silky tannins build steadily on a very long, penetrating finish that strongly echoes the floral and mineral notes.' - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 92/100 (Apr 2018)

'Clean, plummy and vibrant, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage is medium-bodied and crisp, with bright fruit flavors, touches of pomegranate, and a fine, velvety mouthfeel. It should drink well for at least a decade.' - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Dec 2017)

Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage La Guiraude 2015:
‘Inky and dark-hearted. Peppery intensity with just a touch of charry reduction just now. Powerful and concentrated but – for now – less drinkable than the standard Croze-Hermitage.’ – Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17++/20 (Jun 2017)

‘La Guiraude is simply a barrel selection of Graillot's Crozes Hermitage. The 2015 Crozes Hermitage la Guiraude is darker and meatier than the regular cuvée, offering notes of black cherries, soy sauce and roasted meat. It's full-bodied and dense, packed with flavor and richness, and long and velvety on the finish.’ - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 94/100 (Dec 2017)

‘Lurid ruby. Sexy, intensely perfumed aromas of dark fruit preserves, smoky minerals, exotic spices and olive paste. Silky and sweet on the palate, offering concentrated blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors enlivened by a jolt of smoky minerality. Shows excellent clarity and spicy lift on the seamless, strikingly persistent finish, which leaves a cherry liqueur note behind.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 93/100 (Apr 2018)
