About this Item
Domaine Font de Michelle is a French wine producer based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domaine is best-known for its range of red and white Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, but has also expanded its portfolio with the addition of several Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhone Villages Signargues wines.
Founder Etienne Gonnet established the 30ha domaine in 1950. His two sons, Jean and Michel, took over in 1975 and in turn passed their responsibilities on to their own children, Bertrand and Guillaume. The Gonnet family has also established Gonnet Pères et Fils to distribute its Domaine Font de Michelle and La Font du Vent wines, as well as Rhône Valley wines from a selection of winegrowers in the region.
The Gonnets' special Cuvée Etienne Gonnet, features 90-to-100-year-old Grenache vines grown on the plateau of the La Crau sector, with sizable dollops of Syrah and Mourvèdre.

Critics Ratings
‘Ruby-red. Red cherry confiture, licorice and spices on the rather reticent nose. Then sweet and voluminous in the mouth, with a velvety texture and great depth of flavor. This will totally satisfy your buds. Finishes extremely long and rich, with ultrafine, thoroughly enrobed tannins.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 94/100 (Jan 2001)
‘This wine reveals an up-front, forward style, a dense ruby/purple color, and a gorgeous perfume of licorice, seaweed, black cherry liqueur, smoke, and truffles. Full-bodied, thick, and juicy, with a viscous texture, firm concentration, low acidity, and fabulous ripeness, it can be drunk now or cellared for another 15 years.’ – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 94/100 (Dec 2001)
‘Juicy and lush, this is filled with spice box, fig paste, currant preserve, bittersweet cocoa and mineral notes. Still has some tannins to shed, but the grippy finish has a nice lingering note of hoisin sauce.--1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape retrospective. Drink now through 2020.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Sep 2007)
