About this Item
Paserene is a small, family operated winery owned by Martin Smith and Ndabe Mareda, the sole purpose of which is to produce high-end, luxury wines. Great care was given to ensure that the wines produced, and artwork on the labels, are truly authentic to its “sense of place and people” and will guarantee a lasting legacy. The name Paserene comes from the Latin word Passeriformes, the order of "traveling and free" birds containing swifts and swallows. Paserene is situated in the quaint town of Franschhoek and is home to their award-winning wine range.

Critics Ratings
'Striking combo Petit Verdot and Cabernet (51/42), splash rare-in-SA Carmenère, 2015 purple-inky hue, intense cassis, mulberry and blueberry fruits nuanced with lead pencil on nose, spice and meat on palate. Firm tannin approachable now but for cellaring, too. Stellenbosch and Philadelphia fruit.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (93 pts)
'Deep crimson. Dark and savoury on the palate, the oak is there and seems to add a touch of char but there’s a rocky character that enhances the freshness. Dry, chewy tannins and a savoury dark finish. Serious, compact, long. Needs time in bottle.’ – Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17+/20 (Oct 2017)
