About this Item
The iconic Left Bank based blend from De Toren. Named for the ‘fusing’ together of Bordeaux’s five famous varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec). The Fusion V celebrated its maiden vintage in 1999 and was introduced to the international markets. Under the guidance of Albie Koch this Bordeaux left-bank inspired blend has accumulated an energised and praised following from wine aficionados both in South Africa and abroad.

Critics Ratings
‘Glossy, acclaimed top-ranker. 5-variety Bordeaux red, cabernet-led in 07, proclaims its pedigree in the plush fruit, refined tannins, nothing out of place, just polished perfection. Long slow evolution ahead. Yr small barrels, 50% new. Worthy successor to refined 06.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2010, 4.5*
'Cedar, blackberry, plum and dark chocolate aromas and flavors give this poised red blend a mysterious edge. Anise and pepper add a spicy kick, the whole package rolls out in one impressive, rich wave, ending with a spicy finish. An ageable wine with great character and poise. One of South Africa's best.' - Susan Kostrzewa, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Jan 2010)
‘A very pure, polished style, with lush fig, black currant and blackberry fruit stitched with suave tobacco, roasted vanilla and tar notes. Nice latent depth on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Apr 2010)
