'This is a beautiful, expressive wine, with loads of potpourri, dried floral and cinnamon-spice notes that lead on the nose and ride atop the decadent fruit tones of blackberry, boysenberry and black plum flesh. The palate is full and smooth, yet not overdone or overly opulent, with more of those ripe black fruit flavors that are partnered with tones of tilled earth, licorice, light char and freshly ground coffee. The tannins are structuring, yet well integrated into the mix, with a long finish to seal the deal.' – Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Sep 2020)
‘As usual Cabernet Sauvignon-based, 2013 adds 15% mix of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Though still young, the big but classic structure offers alluring invitation to dark-fruited, richly tannined depths. Quite tough now, though lively, but promises real harmony in 5-10 years. Long, genuinely dry finish.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (94/100)
‘A worthy successor to the 2012, this top end Stellenbosch blend (marrying Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) lives up to the Bordeaux pedigree of its legendary owner, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing. Sappy, refined and mineral-etched, it’s fresh and stylish and subtle, with dense, age worthy tannins and a long, tight finish. 2019-30.’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 95/100
