About this Item
The name of this wine pays tribute to the man who recognized the potential of Rustenberg, and bought the farm in 1941, reuniting the property, restoring its buildings and investing in its potential to make world class wines. The oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on the estate is named the Peter Barlow block and consistently produces powerful, long-lived Cabernet Sauvignon that is given the best possible treatment in the cellar.

Critics Ratings
'A archetypal nose of cassis, oystershell, tobacco and tomato cocktail. The palate, meanwhile, was full but balanced – pure fruit, a good line of acidity and wonderfully powdery tannins. The wine has an alcohol by volume of 14.82% but this does not jar unduly, although there’s no mistaking the overall power of the wine. It drank very well and there was a definite sense of it being able to mature with benefit for a long time still to come.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100 (Jan 2016)
'Big, bold, savory and herbal, this complex Cab starts with aromas of black cherry, cedar and vanilla, rolling out into rich waves of cedar, blackcurrant, herbs and spice. Masculine and ageable, the wine has a stylish but strudy character and a lingering pepper finish. A wine for the cellar, or to drink now with a juicy steak.' - Susan Kostrzewa, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100 (Dec 2009)
'Serious, intense 100% cab & 100% new oak in ripe 05, which increases tannic sternness. Will need min 2 yrs to back off, reveal rich core of fruit. Shd mature as any worthy cab from this big yr. Natural ferm, unfiltered.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2009, 4.5*
