About this Item
Notes
We wanted to create a piece which played with the idea of paper
maché. As kids, we would tear pages from old magazines and
piece together pictures of everyday objects – a flower in a pot
on the window sill.
When in textile form we have to work with texture and form to
achieve the lopsided nature of torn paper. The pot holds the
thumb mark of its maker, in this case Maria Lekay.
It is framed in orange (there was only enough to dip the edges).
The flower has been there since the birthday party, we really
should chuck it. But the blue is so good against the brown walls
and the snapped stalk gives it a Japanese kind of look. It makes
the pot look grander than it really is. I bought it off the Declutter
group, so who knows? It could be the real deal.
Pass me the Pritt we need to stick down these corners.
