About this Item

South Africa 21st century
tuin en duim, No 14, Botterblom Collection, 2024
hand-woven mohair tapestry, made collectively by women artisans in the Frances vH Mohair studio, woven by Monique Bitterbos and embroidered by Gizella Arendse
190cm by 64cm

Notes

A tapestry woven by Monique Bitterbos and embroidered by
Gizella Arendse. This piece was specifically made for Marie Piet
(Ant Goedjies) and her garden.
This is not a garden for anyone but herself. It wraps the borders of
her fence, making it impossible to see if you do not look at what’s
behind the shade cloth. Possibly the most impressive landscape artist
on Botterblom. Maria Piet, stylish, and most often found dressed in
purple, tends to nature and exudes the joy shoots bring to the daze.
Tuin en duim is a piece that maps the fingerprints needed to nurture
colour in the dust.
