Botterblom Collection: Mohair Tapestries from the Karoo
Timed Online Auction, 2 - 24 February 2025
Botterblom Collection
About the SessionThe collective of artisans, working at Frances VH Mohair Studio, has created a space where vision, dedication, storytelling and shared purpose coalesce through the power of creative agency and voice. Their latest project, the impactful Botterblom Collection, traces aspects of daily life that pulse through a street in a neighbourhood in Prince Albert. Woven from the dreams, hopes and fears of everyday life, the collection is a celebration of the beauty inherent in imperfection while also showcasing and contributing to material culture. What emerges from the collection is sensual, deeply spiritual and unique work, taking on the name of the street to honour the marks of time embedded in place.

Notes
A series of three prayer mats for the everyday; celebrating the words
that land on your kitchen floor, the chatter of friends, Friday night
scenes, Sunday gatherings, chickens scratching in the sand. The
dressed-up and dressed-down moments that make up a patchworked story of place.
Sundays are days to congregate with family and friends, sitting
around tables and sharing meals together. Home-made meals,
the smell hanging in the air like comfort & nostalgia smothered
into one hot vet koek.
*Koeksister, those twisted sickly sweet pastries that should be
crunchy on the outside but cold and syrupy on the inside.
A labour of love to make, an instant to consume. Funny, how
some twisted people find themselves in the front row of
do-good and forgiveness on a Sunday, The moment of sweet is
fleeting, only to return next week to soften the crunch.
