A Dutch walnut and marquetry chest of drawers, 19th century
the shaped rectangular top with central urn and foliate marquetry, above four long graduated bombe drawers mounted with brass handles, canted corners and flat side panels, raised on carved paw and ball feet, 87cm high, 92cm wide, 53cm deep

Notes

Marquetry decorations are inlays that create pattern using contrast. This technique involves carving cavities into wood to set in other coloured woods or various materials like bone, ivory, horn or stone.
