John David Ferguson, born in Buxton, Derbyshire in 1932, studied at the West of England College of Art, Bristol, and at the Slade School of Fine Art. Working primarily in oils, his style can be described as loose and impressionistic, describing landscapes with quick gestural brushstrokes that elevate from the canvas with captivating texture.
