About this Item

2017 Saint-Joseph Cavanos
5 (1 x 5) 750ml

Cave Cuilleron is, above all, a family estate. Established in 1920 by Claude Cuilleron, Yves’ grandfather, a passion for wine has been in the family’s genes for three generations. The domaine stands out thanks to its advanced viticulture practices and bespoke winemaking. Within 10 years of taking over from his uncle in 1987, Yves Cuilleron established himself as ‘one of the leading lights of France’s Northern Rhône region’ according to Jamie Goode. He has grown the estate considerably and is a prominent producer in Condrieu. While he is an advocate for modernity, his wines manage to walk the fine line between traditional and the new-wave.

Critics Ratings

‘Saturated violet color. Powerful cherry, blackberry aromas, along with hints of bacon fat, licorice and cracked pepper. Concentrated and energetic on the palate, offering expansive black fruit and floral pastille flavours that steadily become sweater with air. Closes very long, sappy and broad, showing very good clarity and bite on the smoky, youthfully tannic finish.’ – Josh Reynolds, Vinous, 92-93/100 (Feb 2019)
