About this Item

2014 Reserve Syrah
1 (1 x 1) 750ml

Established in 2007 by the dynamic husband-and-wife team, Chris and Andrea Mullineux have, in a very short space of time, established Mullineux (and along with other ‘revolutionaries’ the Swartland itself) as one of South Africa’s most celebrated producers. Their track record speaks for itself: Awarded Wine Enthusiast’s International Winemaker of the Year in 2016, Tim Atkin’s SA Winemakers of the Year in 2017 and Five times Platter's Winery of the Year (2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2023).

Wine Club exclusive release, only one barrel made.

'This perfumed Syrah has notes of spicy citrus rind, refined black fruit, violets and lilies. The palate is elegant and restrained yet with good body and a silky texture balanced by a fresh, natural acidity. The finish is long with supple tannins.'

Grapes come from 7 sustainably farmed vineyard parcels in various parts of the Swartland: 4 parcels planted in the stony Schist based soils of the Kasteelberg; 2 parcels of dry-land, bush vines grown in the decomposed Granite of the Paardeberg; and 1 on the rolling, iron-rich soils west of Malmesbury. Vines are aged 19 to 26 years.
