About this Item

2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée
1 (1 x 1) 1500ml

The Feraud family of Domaine Feraud has their history in winemaking dating back to 1670. In 1964, Paul Feraud began producing and selling his own wine, but it was his daughter, Laurence, who convinced him to create an independent family estate which was founded in 1987 and named Domaine du Pegau. Pegau now owns 23 hectares under vine and is considered one of the best producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with their traditional-styled, powerful wines considered among the best in the world.

Critics Ratings

‘While the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve has never been my favorite vintage from Laurence, it nevertheless showed nicely on this occasion with classic Pegau notes of tapenade, garrigue and spiced meats flowing to a medium to full-bodied, supple, sexy wine that will continue to evolve gracefully for another decade.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Mar 2016)

‘Impressively complex scents of red and dark berries, cherry, leather and garrigue, with smoky minerals and dried flowers adding interest. Juicy raspberry and blackcurrant flavors pack serious punch and are seriously concentrated but there's a real elegance to this wine. Licorice and candied flowers echo on the long, sappy finish. This looks to be as good as the superb 2005 today.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 94/100 (Jan 2009)

‘Ripe and very packed, delivering fig, macerated currant, bittersweet cocoa, roasted chestnut and tar notes. The long finish flows nicely, with lots of buried garrigue and incense hints carried by fresh acidity. Drink now through 2027.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Jun 2009)

‘The 2006 Pégau is built along almost Burgundian lines: It's not a rich, beefy blockbuster, but instead offers very framboise-like aromas and red-fruited flavors that are at once crisp, spicy and silky.' – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Dec 2009)
