Notes
This is a rare photograph of Gregoire Boonzaier standing in front of the present lot. It is titled My Ateljee/ My Studio and was executed in 1944. It is of the building on the corner of Leilie and Plein Streets in Bo Kaap that housed his studio from 1940 to 1945. The artist held on to this painting until 1999 when it was acquired directly from the artist by the current owner. Boonzaier died at the age of 96 in 2005.
