About this Item
Highlands Road owner Michael White, a Port Elizabeth attorney, jokes that his wine estate began as a hobby that spiraled out of control. With Elgin’s name, Highlands Road, and his Scottish heritage, the branding naturally reflects these ties. The estate’s colors match the Scottish flag, a Celtic love knot adorns the bottle, and the logo features a vine leaf with a Celtic motif. Notably, Highlands Road is the only wine farm with a registered tartan— with kilts often being the order of the day at shows.

'50% Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Semillon, blending occurring after six months on the lees, 10% of the Sauvignon Blanc component matured in barrel. Citrus, peach, hay, herbs, liquorice and some leesy complexity on the nose. The palate has weight but also drive – good fruit concentration, pleasantly thick textured, the acidity nicely integrated and the finish gently savoury.' - WINEMAG.co.za 10-Year-Old Wine Report 2025, 95/100
‘50% Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Semillon, blending occurring after six months on the lees, 10% of the Sauvignon Blanc component matured in barrel. A note of reduction before scrubland, peach, citrus and blackcurrant. Pure and precise with fresh acidity and a particularly long and savoury finish. 2019-2022’ - Christian Eedes, Decanter, 93/100
‘Lemon/lime tautness on 50/50 semillon & sauvignon. Breadth & texture from 15% natural ferment in barrel for each component adds real refinement & presence.’ - Platter’s Guide, 4* (2017)
