About this Item

2015 Estate
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Situated on the scenic slopes of the Helderberg mountain, Rust en Vrede is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest estates, dating back to 1694 and is today owned by Jean Engelbrecht. Singular focus and commitment to quality estate red wines has established the brand among the few early ‘luxury’ South African wine brands. The fine Helderberg terroir produces structured, age-worthy and highly celebrated reds.

Critics Ratings

‘57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Syrah, 9% Merlot. Matured for 18 months in barrel. Complex aromatics of red and black berries, floral perfume, herbs, and spice. The palate is luscious and polished, with pure fruit, bright acidity, and fine tannins. Impressively youthful, with much still to offer.'- WINEMAG.co.za 10-Year-Old Wine Report 2025, 94/100

'Iconic Cabernet-Syrah since 88, still one of Cape’s jewels. Dense, concentrated black fruit on 2015 (with 9% Merlot) shows layers of complexity and detail: heady fynbos, taut earthiness, supple texture. Beautifully crafted for cellaring, like 2014 (4.5 stars, 92 points). Larger formats up to 27L available.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2019, 5* (95 points)

‘Estate is a red blend taken from across the slope of the Helderberg. Marrying Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah with 9% Merlot, it’s a superb wine from a truly great vintage. Damson, cassis and tobacco leaf notes, tangy acidity and filigree tannins: what’s not to like. 2022-30.’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 94/100

'This has a slightly rugged edge, with tobacco, bramble and sage notes framing a core of steeped black currant and fig fruit. Cedar and alder details score the finish, which has good juicy energy. Should unwind a bit more with moderate cellaring. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Drink now through 2022.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Dec 2018)
